I have always loved the luminescent look of capiz shells. In my dreams my second child will be a girl and I will get to use capiz shells to decorate her nursery. There are so many great home decor accesories made with capiz shells. Here are a few of my favorites and a few to keep out of the nursery.


Mirrors are great in every room and the nursery is no exception. I think this Laminated Capiz Shell mirror from West Elm would be great in a girl nursery. Just make sure to hang the mirror in a safe location where it will be safe for baby. You might want to avoid hanging it over the crib or changing table where baby might be able to knock it down.

I don’t think you can ever have too many picture frames to display family pics. These white capiz shell frames from World Market are the perfect size for keepsake baby photos. Display them on a shelf out of reach from baby.

A few capiz shell products to avoid in the nursery would be capiz shell curtains and long chandeliers. Both of these could present a strangulation or entanglement hazard for baby.
