Good Read: “Organic Baby: Simple Steps for Healthy Living” by Kimberly Rider

May 14th, 2008 · No Comments

Organic Baby is a great resource for any new parent and any parent looking to go green. It is chalk full of advise on how to navigate the modern, toxic world we live in to make the best choices for you and your baby.

I loved the book because it is realistic. It offers alternative solutions if you cannot afford to buy all the trendy, high-end organic products. The book is tabbed with sections on nursery, gear, what’s closest to baby’s skin, baby food, out in the world, and resources.

The out in the world tab provides great advice on reinforcing your choices when you are away from home. It talks about what to do when you are out in public or just over at a friend’s house. You can set ground rules for family and friends in advance. This section tells you what to look out for in common places like playgrounds, grocery stores, and the doctor’s office.

My favorite part of the book is the Resources tab. As your reading the book and looking at all the beautiful pictures you will be wondering…ooh where do I get that? Skip to the end and check out the resources guide with a listing of stores by category. I only wish they had cross-references to the products pictured in the book.
