New Fabrics and Fun at Mod Green Pod

December 26th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Fabric

One of the first collections of organic fabrics I fell in love with were those hand-printed in New England by Mod Green Pod. I love their modern meets traditional sensibility. Well, Mod Green Pod has recently undergone some big changes including the launch of a few new fabric patterns and an ecommerce site to purchase their fabrics direct.

One of the biggest changes they have made is the way their fabrics are printed. Artisans used to hand silk-screen all the fabric on long yardage tables. Now all patterns are machine-printed, still using water-based inks on organic cotton canvas. The new printing process has made the fabrics much more affordable; now only $39.75 per yard (they previously retailed at over $100 per yard).

During the transition several colorways and patterns were discontinued leading the way for a well-edited collection and the addition of 3 new patterns (Bloom, Aspire, and Glimmer). All of the Tiny Décor products featuring Mod Green Pod fabrics are made from the original hand silk-screened prints. Most of the prints we use are now discontinued making them Limited Edition products and a great way to add a unique touch to your nursery.

My favorite part of the Mod Green Pod transition is the addition of their ecommerce site for purchasing fabrics, which also includes a really fun tool called the Room Creator. With the Room Creator you can drag and drop different fabric and wallpaper patterns onto the objects in the room. You can even fabric the cat!

I love Mod Green as well. Thanks for this tip. They were pricey before and now are so affordable. Perhaps other green fabrics could take a tip from them.

My wish is they would make some more traditional fabrics designs.
