Having seen the long line waiting outside the door every Saturday morning, it still surprises that there are people that do not know about the Room & Board Outlet. I think this is one of the biggest perks to living in the Twin Cities. The one and only Room & Board Outlet is located in Golden Valley, MN just outside Minneapolis.

They call it the Weekend Outlet because it is only open Saturday and Sunday. It opens at 10am on Saturday, but in warm weather plan to get there an hour early to get in line. Yes, the deals are that good! They also get a second afternoon shipment on Saturdays, so if you don’t see what you are looking for in the morning swing back by after 2pm to see them unloading the trucks.

The outlet becomes home to all Room & Board returns. Most of what you will find is in perfect condition and the original buyer just changed their mind or did not like the custom fabric they chose. This is a great way to get custom upholstered pieces at a fraction of the cost. We have furnished over 80% of our home from Room & Board, about 70% from the outlet.

On a recent trip we found a couple good pieces for the nursery or playroom and wanted to share them with you. First is the Little Jake Chairs that retail for $49. We regularly see these at the outlet for $24.99.

Second is the Network Bookcases. These would make cute toy and kids book storage with lots of fun cubbies. The online store only shows these in Ebony finish, but on several occassions we have seen these bamboo bookshelves in a lighter finish. The one shown here retails for $499, but was marked $349 at the outlet. That day they also had the larger 70 inch wide version that retails for $899, marked at $499.

So if you are in need of furniture and live anywhere near the Twin Cities you must go to the Room & Board Weekend Outlet. In fact even if you live further away but are here for a visit, remember all of their standard shipping rates apply. I believe it is $69 for local delivery within a certain radius of any Room and Board Store up to $229 for nationwide delivery. Delivery is for unlimited number of items.

We recommend checking the outlet frequently for items you are interested in. Items that stay on the floor more than one week usually get marked down again each subsequent week. Couches, beds, and dining tables tend to be hot items and go fast, so get there early. If you find something you like, stand by it holding the tag and raise your hand and an associate will be by to help.
