To go with our post about the byBOdesign Changing Table, we love the Leander crib. Bummer is it does not seem to be officially available in the US even 5 years after it’s debut. Luckily at IFCC this year a few companies showcased similar style cribs that may be available in the US.
This one from Bloom, called Luxo, is gorgeous in two-tone. It has slats all around, but is a very similar look to the Leander and a welcome addition to modern nursery design. Love the look with the mocha-colored Otto table and chairs in the background.

This one from Svan has tons of exciting convertible options for both the crib and matching changing table. Here are a few shots of the prototypes, but don’t get too excited as it seems they are not anywhere near releasing these to market yet.

I think I am officially in love! I think we need to get on the phone with these companies to get them to release in the U.S. What materials are these cribs made of?

The cribs are all made of bent-ply. The Leander is birch, I am unsure on the other two.
The Luxo also comes with a matress with curved ends. Check it out via DaddyTypes Flickr Stream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/daddytypes/2500979831/

The bloom luxo is supposed to be available later this year. It’s made of solid wood and laminated bent ply - all northern white birch and no mdf or fiberboard. They said all finishes are low voc, and non-toxic. The luxo had the coil spring natural mattress at ICFF too - with natural rubber, lambs wool, and soft cotton layers. I saw the leander in europe (with synthetic too-soft foam mattress) but couldn’t find it here. The luxo looks a lot nicer! You have to see it in person, it’s really a beautiful design.
