I Heart Anamalz!!!

September 5th, 2008 · No Comments

Anamalz are the cutest wooden toys I have ever seen. A very good friend of mine, to whose daughter my son is jokingly betrothed (because we think it would be cute if they grew up and fell in love), got my son his first three Anamalz for his birthday. I say “first three” because I already know he will be getting more. I am already picking out which ones I want to get him for Christmas.

Eco-friendly Baby Board Books

September 4th, 2008 · No Comments

I was really excited to find this series of books by publisher Priddy Books. The Natural Baby series of board books (mine actually say Organic Baby) are printed on recycled paper and printed with natural soy ink. The books feature pictures of real objects related to the main theme with their names printed next to them to help develop baby’s vocabulary. I love the big circle cutout in the corner of each book; it makes it easy for baby to carry around and easy to hold on to while turning pages. The books are $6.95 each. I found mine at Babies R Us.

Earth’s Best Chlorine-free Disposable Diapers

September 3rd, 2008 · 1 Comment

There is a new player in the chlorine-free disposable diaper market and it is Earth’s Best. You are probably familiar with their organic baby food. I found the diapers by accident when I was picking up Seventh Generation Diapers at Babies R Us.

Halloween Costume Idea: Certified Organic Banana

September 3rd, 2008 · 1 Comment

I had a good chuckle when I saw this costume hanging in Pottery Barn Kids. You can dress up your child as a Certified Organic Banana. I think it is a creative idea and a nice touch to have the certified organic “sticker”. I was a little disappointed though that the actual costume is made from polyester felt and corduroy instead of organic or sustainable fabrics. I am sure using sustainable fabrics would have been somewhat cost prohibitive for a Halloween costume, especially since this one is already rather pricey at $69.

Mother Nature Gave Us an Unplanned Break

September 1st, 2008 · No Comments

This post is one big apology for not posting articles in the last few days. We had a bad thunderstorm this past week and in the middle of the night our home was struck by lightening. We lost our cable modem affecting internet and phone, our air conditioning, and my beautiful iMac. All is being fixed, but we took it as a sign from Mother Nature that we needed a little break from electronic devices. We will be back online this week and posting daily as usual.

Organic Nursing Covers by Bébé Au Lait

August 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Bébé au Lait has a new line of organic nursing covers called Simple, Organics. The organic line has all the same great features as the originals but they are either 100% Organic Linen or 100% Organic Cotton. Unfortunately, no bold, modern patterns like the originals. Instead the Simple line features 5 solid colors with great names; Raspberry, Peacock, Steel, Buttercup, and Willow. The Simple Organics nursing coverups cost $50. I think this is one area where a little splurge is okay because your baby will be in close contact with the nursing coverup.

Eco-friendly By Color: Pink

August 25th, 2008 · No Comments

Okay I know pink for a girl is expected, but it is a beautiful color and I think if done correctly it can be stunning instead of boring.  I am going to show you 7 great eco-friendly pieces you must have for a naturally modern (pink) nursery.  By using several shades of pink from bubble gum to fuchsia with a main accent color of gold, I think you will find this is a very modern, updated pink look.

An Eco-Friendly First Birthday Starts with an E-vite!

August 21st, 2008 · No Comments

My son is almost one and in my spare time (the little there is) I have been planning an eco-friendly first birthday party for him. Step 1 for any party is usually the invitation and an eco-friendly party is no different. But an eco-party warrants a paperless invite. The easiest way to accomplish this is by e-mailing out an invitation.
